Why Should a Professional Clean and Seal My Ductwork?

Regardless of how new and efficient your system is, unless they have been professionally cleaned and sealed, even the most air-tight homes have leaky air ducts. Less obvious than a water leak, you could unknowingly be losing as much as 30-40 percent of your heated or cooled air through the seams of your comfort system’s ductwork, even if they are taped. This is of course a major hit to your monthly energy bill, air quality and overall comfort. Here’s why you should have your ducts cleaned and sealed:

Clean Slate. Cleaning your ductwork will decrease the amount of dust and air contaminants being distributed around your home through your vents. Once cleaned, sealing your ducts with Aeroseal Duct Sealing will make a big difference in air quality! Continue to clean them regularly to minimize ongoing buildup.

Stop opening that wallet. Leaky ducts are a major source of wasted energy and high utility bills. They force your system to work harder, increasing maintenance costs and accelerating expensive repairs. Unlike the traditional taping methods, sealing your ductwork could reduce leakage from 30 percent down to 3 percent!

More even air flow. Leaky ducts can leave you out in the cold in one room and hot under the collar in another! It may take longer for rooms to reach the temperature setting on your thermostat. And, when leaky intake ducts pull hotter air from your attic or colder air from your basement, your system works harder, it takes longer to heat or cool living spaces and the temperatures may be inconsistent from one room to the next.

Time to breathe. Not only does dirty ductwork take longer to condition and carry the air to your rooms, your ducts may be distributing dirty, unclean air drawn from attics, crawl spaces and basements. It’s time to get them cleaned!
