The homeowners wanted to add air conditioning to their older cape-style home. Their Ayer home had an existing hot water baseboard heating system; however, there was no attic and the basement was finished, leaving no room for a conventional ducted air conditioning system.
We looked at all available options, such as a mini-ducted (Space-Pak) system or the installation of an air handler in the attic while running ducts through closets (not the best option as this would take up most the home’s storage space). We recommended what we felt was the best solution: a three-zone mini-split (ductless) system.
The homeowners love their new air conditioning and they can’t help wondering why no other HVAC contractor ever recommended a ductless system to them in the past.
