We called them for a second opinion because we had a very bad plastic smell when turning on the heat last year. We had a newborn so it was urgent for us that we get heat back on as soon as possible. They came and recommended we replace the heating system and fix some ductwork that was incorrect (and caused the plastic inside the furnace to melt) and we chose to move ahead with them. They came and installed the system but things went badly from there. A few days after it was installed, we turned on the circulation fan and the heating system immediately turned off. We couldn’t turn it back on. We had to call them back out (on a weekend) to fix the installation issue. They were unable to diagnose the issue that day, so they had to come back with more parts the next week to fix it. They “fixed” the issue, but the heating system failed again after a few times of the circulation fan going on. After more days and attempts, they were able to finally get the system to work as expected. However, while doing all this work they had to disconnect the central air conditioning unit from the system. As we were going into winter, they said we’d have to call when the weather heated up to reconnect it. Fast forward to the spring and we did just that. Because of COVID, it took them many, many weeks to come out and hook it up. When they did, the air conditioning unit was not working. This AC system was only 7 years old and worked perfectly fine the previous year when we had last used it. The tech tried the start it repeatedly, spinning the fan but no cold air came out. They said they’d be back to troubleshoot it. They came back a few days later but said they couldn’t fix it. I was then called and told that the air conditioning unit was “broken” and I would have to replace it. When I told them I’d expect them to fix/replace it because it was working perfectly fine before they touched it (both to disconnect it and reconnect it) and now was broken after, they said it couldn’t have been them that broke it. I asked how it was broken and was told it was overworked – the fan had spun too hard. This type of issue can only be caused by actually running the air conditioning unit. When I asked them how I could have broken the AC system when they had disconnected it and we couldn’t turn it on during this time to run the AC, he told me he didn’t know but it “wasn’t their fault”. The best he said he could offer me was installing it at cost, which was still thousands of dollars. They had all the power here so I ended up having them do it (after all, it would have cost a lot more doing it through another company and taking them to small claims court would have taken years) but you should know they broke our system and refused to take responsibility for it. This was after multiple instances of incorrect installations and problems. The technicians were nice enough but if they make a mistake you shouldn’t have to pay thousands of dollars to fix it. Beware working with them!
